Ugh! And Sunday Funday

My computer won't type...I mean, of course it won't type by itself, but it won't type when I push on the keys. I'm on my boyfriend's computer right now and it's soooo tiny, I can barely type.

Sunday Funday Video of the Week

An oldie but a goodie....Bohemian Rhapsody as done by the muppets. When muppets are involved, you really can't go wrong.

Funny Christmas Presents

I found this site that has some pretty funny presents. If you're into the gag gift, or if you just want a chuckle, check these out!

Yule Doos Christmas Ornament

Quit scanning the shelves of the Hallmark store for that perfect ornament...because here it is!

The Yule Doos Christmas Ornament can turn a crappy holiday into an even crappier one. This magnificent piece of poo is sprinkled with glitter and comes ready to hang with a red & green satin ribbon.

Fear not, the Yule Doos ornament is unscented. Measures approximately 3" high and 3" in diameter

Twelve Shots of Christmas

The Twelve Days of Christmas would have been so much better if only they were accompanied by some hardcore drinking.

With the invention of the The Twelve Shots of Christmas Shot Glass Wreath you and your friends can find the holiday spirit while enjoying some "holiday spirits".

Tube Sock Christmas Stockings

The "No frills" approach to Christmas Stockings.

Put those red velvet boring stockings back in the attic and get yourself a few Tube Sock Christmas Stockings.

Finally the tube sock will be a appreciated gift especially stuffed with holiday gifts!

Inflatable Turkey

This Inflatable Turkey looks so delicious you can almost smell the stuffing. But keep the carving knives away, because this bird is strictly for show!

Each 16" long, vinyl turkey is perfect for staging your Thanksgiving table while the real turkey is roasting, or a replacement beach ball to bat around on a sunny day.

The Inflatable Turkey comes deflated in a 4-1/4" x 2-3/4" x 2-7/8" illustrated SPAM-like tin.

The most wonderful Thanksgiving

Well, if you'd read the previous post, you would know that I had know idea what my boyfriend had planned for Thanksgiving.

He did beautifully!

First of all, I need to impress upon you that the only time I've seen him in the kitchen, he was having trouble making boxed I didn't really know what to expect.

He'd gotten recipes from some of the folks he works with at Circus Circus, and spent days finding all the ingredients. (he can find anything in the snack aisle, but this was actual grocery shopping).

He made a beautiful ham with a root beer glaze, that was quite yummy hot, but even better late at night when we made sandwiches with it. He also made this dish of ground beef, peas and carrots, cooked in a pumpkin with a hard cider sauce. (This was my favorite, not only for the uniqueness, but also because it tasted so good I had seconds and thirds).

There were also veggies, rolls, salad and wine, though I must say, neither of us touched the salad because the other stuff was so tasty that we completely forgot it was there.

Afterward, he brought out a Christmas tree and ornaments that he'd bought. I haven't had a tree since I lived at home with mom 13 YEARS AGO! It's not that I didn't want one, but I would always be too busy and either alone (who wants one when they're alone, or with someone that was not too keen on helping).

We set it up by the fire, and included an electric train at the bottom that we'd found at a thrift store earlier this year. Never before have I felt like I was living in a Norman Rockwell painting until last night.

In Other News

Christmas shopping begins today! Remember that everything in my shop has FREE SHIPPING anywhere in the US and Canada! Also very cheap shipping to anywhere else in the world!

To work, or To sleep...That is the question.

Sorry, I didn't get anything posted yesterday. Between the Venetian, Johnathan's show and my mom being in town, I was so exhausted that my body gave out and I snoozed in front of the TV all day until I had to go to do the show.

I tend to do that a lot...go, go, go, go, go, and then crash.

I'm hoping today to work on part two of a custom order. I'm making a hat, scarf, and mitten set. The mittens are done, next is the hat...I'm saving the scarf for last because that is the easiest.

In Thanksgiving News:
Happy Thanksgiving Everyone, from AllThingsTangled

I still don't know what I'm doing for Thanksgiving. Yes, I know it's a bit late. For a while I thought I had to work tonight, so the boyfriend went out and bought stuff, put it in the refrigerator drawers, taped them shut with a big sign that said, "NO!!"

He said that since he thought I was working, he was creating something special for me for when I got home. I can't wait to see what he's got planned, and I think it's so wonderful that he's done something special for just the two of us.

...hmmmm, come to think of it, maybe I should put one of the fire extinguishers in the kitchen just in case...hee hee.

I hope you all have a wonderful thanksgiving!

Great food...Grand rebate!

Last night, the mom, step dad, boyfriend, and I ate at a wonderful restaurant at the Paris Hotel called Mon Ami Gabi. We sat outside on the terrace, which was surprisingly warm because of the heaters around. It overlooked the strip and the Belagio fountains, so every 15 minutes we were treated to a fantastic water show...and better yet, throughout the whole dinner, we didn't see the same show twice!

Now many times when you go to restaurants for the view, the food is simply ok. Not here. I had braised pork tenderloin with a cherry sauce and the best part....wait for it....DATE GLAZED BACON! Now to me, bacon is the best food ever thought up by anyone, and dates are one of my favorite fruits...putting those together...YUMMMY!

Dessert was a chocolate mousse which was amazing, but slightly disappointing for the fact that I was so full that I couldn't eat more of it.

If you're ever in Vegas and want to spend a little money on a great restaurant, look no further....BTW: I don't work for Paris or its restaurants, so all this praise is genuine.

Pre-Black Friday Sale
Orange Wool Dog it now!

Buy this Doggie Sweater and receive a $5 rebate via paypal. It's made of superwash wool (the other doggie sweaters are acrylic), which makes it a tad more than the others...but with the rebate it's THE SAME PRICE!

Simply type "5DOLLARS" in the notes to seller, and you should see your rebate in your paypal account by the end of the day (west coast time, that is)

Sunday Funday Video and more!

Before we go to the video, I just have to say that I have the most wonderful boyfriend. I worked 12 hours yesterday: 8 hours performing at the Venetian, then 3 hours at Amazing Johnathan. When I came home, the entire living room was cleaned, rearranged for the better, and a beautiful fire was going in the fireplace.

Some women want jewelry, some women want romantic moments, but walking into a clean house that was previously a disaster area is one of the most priceless things to me ever!

Now onto the video

Since Thanksgiving is almost upon us, I found this ad with Robert De Niro and Billy Crystal that I hadn't seen before.

I hope you guys find it funny too!

Amazing Johnathan

First of all, Friday's Favorites went well yesterday. There was one sale so far. Congratulations AcrylicAndSteel!

Now onto AJ
Amazing Johnathan and Psychic Tonya

For the past week I've been filling in at the Amazing Johnathan show while one of his assistants is in Turkey...I know, most people have turkey for thanksgiving, they don't neccessarily go

I'm not working as his main assistang, "Psychic Tonya", but more doing backstage stuff, although I do appear twice for a couple of seconds.

At first it was really hard. I hadn't done the show in over a year, and there are things that happen in the show where timing is everything. Even though you don't see me on stage, there are times when I'm running around like a madwoman behind the scenes.

Yesterday was the first day that I finally felt comfortable. I have 2 more weeks of this before she gets I'm still doing the shows at the Venetian...whew.

...and in addition to the double duty, my Mom's coming in on Monday. I have a couple days off then, so I'll have time to show her and her husband around the town.

Friday's Favorites --Pretty Purple--

There was an overwhelming response this week for my call out for purple, both here on my blog and on the forums. Who doesn't love purple?

There were so many gorgeous designs and great ideas. I'm so tempted to buy one of the purses I chose...We'll see if I make any sales this week and can afford it...or if they're even still here, they'll probably go quickly.

Check them out!

Last week there was one sale, let's see if we can top that this week.

Purple: The fun submissions

Purple and Pink House Socks! Fun for a cold winter morning.
I realized today that I have very little purple in my shop, which is suprising because I love the color, both shades of eggplant all the way to soft lilacs. Plus, it's probably the most fun color to say.

I do have these socks, but I'm definitely going to have to go out and find some pretty purpleness and make a few things.

In honor of this, tomorrow's "Friday's Favorite" theme is going to guessed it...PURPLE!

If you have anything in your shop that's purple, post the link to your item in the comments, and be sure to check back tomorrow for the "Friday's Favorites"!

Last week there was one sale! Congratulations shufflestudio!

Book Review -Swimsuit-

I finished reading Swimsuit by James Patterson the other day. The only reason I picked it up, was that a friend had said how amazing it was, and she was under the impression that it was a true story.

It's told as if it were true, but it is definitely fiction. I had thought, well if John Grisham could make the leap to non-fiction, why not James Patterson? Though I will admit, it is an interesting way to tell a story...especially if you can get readers to believe that it really happened.

As far as the book goes, if you are a James Patterson fan, you will love it. It has all the twists, suprises and gore that he is known for. If you haven't liked his previous books, then I would read something else.

It was a lot of fun, and definitely a page turner, but the ending was one of his weakest yet.

Ben Hawkins, a former L.A. cop turned reporter and author, travels to Hawaii to look into the disappearance of model Kim McDaniels, who has fallen victim to a sadistic fiend who calls himself Henri Benoit. Ben meets with Kim's distraught parents, but the investigation soon runs into dead ends, even as the body count rises. Back in Los Angeles, Henri gets in touch with Ben, and offers the story of his life and the reasons he continues with his murderous spree. As part of the deal, Henri asks the reporter to write his tell-all book. Ben can't refuse given the killer's threat to his life as well as his girlfriend's. In just one of many clever twists, Henri proves to be the consummate storyteller.

Making Performers Laugh

In addition to the magic at the Venetian, I'm also a part of the opera shows as, not singing usually unless they are desparate. Every once in a while an opportunity comes along where you can try to "break" a performer (ie, make them laugh), well, I had one such opportunity yesterday.

First the backstory

One of the singers, who has a doctorate in voice, was teaching a student who refused to learn her scales and kept insisting that the scales were ruining her voice. The singer told her that her pitch would always be bad until she learned them.

Well, needless to say, she found out the student had gone through many different voice teachers who told her pretty much the same thing, and still the student didn't believe it.

Now back to the show

In one of the shows, I pretend to sing (ok, I screach badly and out of tune, but I do it on purpose until the real singers make me stop). Usually I make a comment about how the audience really likes my singing and I get them to clap (most of the time, they play along).

Yesterday, instead, I said, "What's the problem? I practiced my scales and everything!"

Well, she lost it, and it took her a couple of seconds before she could do her solo.

It's very difficult to make a performer laugh on stage...we're trained not to...but every once in a while...score!

Penguins and Socks...huh?

Well, first the penguins...that's right, it's time for the Sunday Funday Video of the Week!

This one made me giggle, and I hope it will make you giggle too:

...And now for the socks
These purple and pink house socks could be yours...only a click away.
I finally finished this pair of socks. It took me a while because I thought I had more yarn than I did, and I had to order some more. You can click on the picture for a better view.

Now I have 4 pairs in my shop, which is fine for the moment until one of them sells. I'm fresh out of berets right now, so I guess that's going to be the next project on the list.

Book Review: Sons of Fortune

Alright, this is it...definitely my last Jeffery Archer book. I just finished reading Sons of Fortune, and it is the most far fetched and predictable book that I have ever read by him. His normally good characterization is thwarted by the fact that he's writing about twins that are very much the same. I kept getting the men confused as well as their best friends. It is so disappointing because Archer has written so many books that I have just loved.

On a side note, I read on the amazon site from one of the reviewers that he was writing the book while incarcerated for perjury. I don't know the back story on that, but the reviewer likens the poor quality of the book to that...hmmmm.

I'm almost finished with another book, and have started reading "Little Women" hopefully there'll be some good reviews in the near future.

In Hartford, Connecticut, during the early 1950s, twin boys are separated at birth. Fletcher and Nat attend competing colleges, fall for the same girl, and have best friends who are the sons of movers and shakers. In the 1960s, Nat is drafted and becomes a hero in Vietnam, while Fletcher goes into law. By the 1990s, Nat's an affluent banker, and Fletcher's a politico on the rise; then, inevitably, their paths come together.

Friday's Favorites Turkey Style

Yes, it's fast approaching. For some that means stress about planning the dinner, making stuff ahead of time, cleaning the house and more...for me, not so much. I have way too many friends that are doing a dinner and many invites (since my family doesn't live in town, I don't have to worry about them...and since it's a busy time of year, I rarely am able to go anywhere) if I were to do a dinner, there'd be no one left to come...and I don't really think the dog, the boyfriend and I can eat a whole turkey.

Well, enough of that...onto the Friday's Favorites! I really wish I was into beading because I'm in love with the turkey beads...maybe one of you out there in cyberspace will like them?

Remember hearting is good, but if you really like something, go ahead and buy it before someone else does.

Thanksgiving Submissions!

Yes, Turkey day is getting close! Or for you vegetarians, Tofurky day!

Every Friday, I post an etsy mini of some of my favorite items made by other sellers. I try to go for a theme that's either pertinant for the year...or just makes sense to me in my own twisted logic.

This week I'm looking for Thanksgiving items! If you have any, post the link in the comments and check back tomorrow for the "Friday's Favorites"!

I, myself, don't have anything that's "Thanksgiving" per se, but I do have these fingerless gloves whose color is great for fall....besides, who wants to show up for turkey dinner with cold hands?

Show me your stuff!

Product Thank You's

First off, my father is the king of the chain emails and joke emails and warning emails. Usually a glance at them and move on...but every once in a while he sends me something that makes me laugh out loud...enjoy!

Dear Tide:

I am writing to say what an excellent product
you have. I've used it all of my married life,
as my Mom always told me it was the best.
Now that I am in my forties I find it even better!

In fact, about a month ago, I spilled some red wine
on my new white blouse. My inconsiderate and
uncaring husband started to belittle me about
how clumsy I was, and generally started becoming
a pain in the neck. One thing led to another and
somehow I ended up with his blood on my new
white blouse! I grabbed my bottle of Tide with
bleach alternative, to my surprise and
satisfaction, all of the stains came out!
In fact, the stains came out so well the detectives
who came by yesterday told me that the DNA tests
on my blouse were negative and then my attorney
called and said that I was no longer considered a
suspect in the disappearance of my husband.

What a relief!
Going through menopause is bad enough
without being a murder suspect!
I thank you, once again, for having a great product.

Well, gotta go, have to write to the Hefty bag people.

So, What's Been Going On?

Funny you should ask...lots of stuff and not much, all at the same time.

The boyfriend and I have gotten into geocaching lately, and it's a ton of fun. We even take the dog with us...though she's not very good at finding the caches, she is good at marking the area so that all the other dogs know that she's been there.

In Magic News:

There's a mentalism convention in town right now. Mentalists are like magicians, but they focus more on Mind Magic rather than sleight of hand, although most of them started as regular magicians first.

One of my friends was in town for it, so I stopped by. I got to see a lot of old friends, and even met a couple of new ones.

In Parental News:

My mom and her husband are coming out to Las Vegas soon. Just before Thanksgiving in fact. He's never been to Vegas and it should be fun showing him around.

I'm also hoping that we can go to my favorite restaurant called Pamplemousse (I hope I spelled that right). It has wonderful French food, but isn't pretentious like the celebrity chef ones in the casinos.

Mom, if you're reading this...hint, hint, hint.

In Knitting News:

I made a custom doggie sweater, but it was too small, so I made a larger one for the customer, and now I listed the original one in my shop

You can click on the picture for a more detailed description. I'm really happy with how the colors in it turned out.

So, What's Been Going On?

The Socks have Friends

Nice and warm house socks...go ahead, buy yourself a pair.
I finished my Pink and Black House Socks a couple of days ago, but haven't had time to post them. You can click on the picture for a more detailed description. Unlike the last pair I made, these ones I crocheted. They're super warm and cozy, and if by January, there's a pair that hasn't sold, I'm taking them for myself.

Right now I'm working on a custom doggie sweater, and hopefully will be finished with it by the end of the day. Then I need to make some more, headband/earwarmers to replace the ones that have sold.

Busy, busy, busy.

Friday's Favorites: Orange you glad you came?

Yes, this week's theme was orange in honor of the beautiful tigers I saw on Wednesday. It's the perfect season for it too, with Thanksgiving coming up soon, and the leaves changing color (well, they're not changing color here in Vegas, but I assume they're changing color somewhere.)

So here you go! Enjoy the orange! Give some hearts...or maybe even some purchases!

Celebrity Party ...And Submissions!

Last night, I helped my boyfriend out with a gig. He was doing four legged stilts and needed a handler. As with most of the gigs we do, we didn't really know who it was for or anything...just where to be, what time and what costume.

Well, we got there and it turned out to be a birthday party for a high roller. There was all sorts of entertainment on hand from contortionists, to jugglers and even a girl in a "bubble" floating on the pool.

Well, it turns out that many celebrities were invited. Paris Hilton, Usher, Jamie Foxx and Paulie Shore were the only ones I recognized. Paris called the boyfriend over for pictures in his costume...and Usher was kind of nervous and backed away.

...We, however, were not allowed to take pictures.

Later on they had a champagne fight spraying it everywhere...with Crystal Champagne no less. We were kind of annoyed, since anywhere there was champagne on the ground, the boyfriend couldn't walk on stilts for fear of slipping and falling.

For me the coolest part was definitely not the celebrities, but the tigers! There were two of them and they were so sweet and beautiful! I love tigers (well, all animals with fur, really). Which brings us to submissions for tomorrow's blog...

In honor of the tigers, I'm looking for items with Orange in them. Post the links to your orange items in the comments and check back tomorrow for the "Friday's Favorites"!

Last week 3 items were sold! Congratulations to: FrenchPressKnits, dearLola, and seaspritesoaps!

Book Review: Maggie Now

I finished reading Maggie Now by Betty Smith. She is such an amazing writer, but if you haven't read anything by her, I would suggest "A Tree Grows in Brooklyn" which is by far her best book.

Smith really gets into the characters, but not just that, her descriptions are beautiful, and you can really see not only what the people are like, but their neighborhood, there houses, and the places they go. There are a few sad moments in this book, but none made me cry like "A Tree Grows in Brooklyn" did.

Judging this book on its own, I would say it was a good book, however judging it next to the others she wrote, it was a little disappointing.

A story about many generations, both Irish, and Irish-American. Pat was born in Ireland, but was too stubborn to marry the girl he loved, so he came to America to escape his reputation.

This book takes us through his trials and tribulations, mainly through the eyes of his daughter, Maggie Now.

New socks!

Give these house socks a click for more information
Socks have seemed to be selling well for me this season, and last week, I listed a new pair of Green and Grey House Socks. They are so warm and cozy, and unlike the other ones that I have made and sold, these one's are knit instead of crochet. You can get a better view by clicking on the picture.

I'm now making another pair of crochet socks, and I have another pair of knit ones waiting on some needles. I ran out of yarn for them and had to special order some. It should get here any day now.

Sunday Funday Video --Model Falls Down--

Though I feel kind of bad for the model on this clip, I really can't help myself. It just gets funnier and funnier the more they laugh.

From the old days of a banana peel on the floor until today with show's like "Wipeout"...we can't get enough of people falling down.
