Grocery Shopping...ugh!

I really am not a big fan of grocery shopping. I mean I don't mind going and picking out the food, but I hate to load it in the car, and bring it home and put it all away. If I were rich, I would probably get a grocery delivery service to do it for me, because I am just that lazy.

I usually wait until I'm out of almost everything, then I do a huge shopping day so that I won't have to go back anytime soon. I buy as much in bulk as I can and use my freezer space accordingly...the more chicken thighs I can buy, the longer I can put off going to buy more.

And I know people say, "Don't go shopping hungry!", however, I have found that if I go on a full stomach, I don't buy nearly enough and I'm forced to go back there sooner rather than later... then sometimes I treat myself to lunch on the way home so I'm not tempted to eat everything before it makes it into the fridge and cupboard.

It's getting to be that shopping time of the month, and I'm trying to plan dinner so I can put it off just one more day.

Sunday Funday -Bad Spelling = Good Deals

For this week's Sunday Funday Video of the Week, I tried not only to go for funny, but also informative. Remember how your teachers always wanted you to spell everything correctly? Well, not doing that, could save you a bit of money on ebay. Who knew?

Updates on Dogs and Things

Dog update:

The doggies are adjusting well to each other. They've even started to play, which amazes me since Bess has never really been the playing type, but I guess Gibbs brings it out in her.

Gibbs is still sneezing and coughing a bit, even with the antibiotics he's on. If it is still bad by the time we finish them, then I'm taking him to my regular vet to see if the other vet missed anything. My vet wasn't listed on the free-medical-for-15-days list.

On a happy note, his incision has healed from his neutering.

Show update:

One of the performers at the Venetian will be going out of town soon, so for the month of March, I'll be there an awful lot. Good for my pocket book, bad for my feet. 4 out of 5 podiatrists do not recommend cobblestone as an optimal walking environment. (ok I just made up that statistic, but it sounded good to me).

The one woman show is still going, although audience numbers have dropped significantly. Many of the brokers won't carry it because of the title. The producer is now weighing the cost he's spent with promoting it to the cost of changing the title. Though I like going in every week and getting paid for performing, it really is no fun to perform for 4 people... especially when there's a lot of audience interaction.

Friday's Favorites Treasury

One of the teams I belong to (actually I've been with them since a month after I opened my shop) is called the Etsyknitter's Team. We've been doing a treasury chain, where you make a treasury of people that put you in a treasury and add other team members so that they can make a treasury with you in it. I was so proud of this one that I decided to use it for the "Friday's Favorites" this week.

If anyone is in need of green for St. Patrick's day, this would be a great place to look!

Take it off Tuesday! Deal of the Week!

...but first... Gibbs, the newest member of our doggie pack is getting along just fine. (can 2 be a pack? or do you need 3? I don't think the boyfriend will let me get another one right now). He's starting to get the sniffles though, probably a little kennel cough. The pound gave me a list of vets that will give him medicine for that for free... of course my regular vet isn't on the list, but free vet care is free vet care. It's part of the adoption program; they give them 15 days of free care in case they caught anything at the pound.

Now onto the sale!

This week, on sale, is this Pink and Blue Sweater. I made in ribbed and in a darker color at the waist to give it a slimming effect.

For today only, you can get 35% off by using the coupon code: TUESDAY. Of course, as with all the items in my shop, there is FREE SHIPPING anywhere in the US and Canada.

There is only one available, so it's first come, first serve.

Sunday Funday Video - Monkey and Goat

This is an amazing act! I've never seen anything like it.

Even though the video quality is not great, you have a monkey riding on the back of a goat doing a tightrope act! Who could ask for more?

New Doggie

Last night the boyfriend and I adopted a new doggie from the pound. We're not quite sure what kind he is, but we're pretty sure there's some pug in him. Bess, my chihuahua, doesn't usually get along with other dogs, so we brought her to the pound too, before adopting, so that she could have the final say.

They got along, and last night with all four of us in the bed, there was no growling or arguements...(Bess can be a bit possesive of the bed), so we're considering that as a success.

We named him Gibbs... Yes, we're both NCIS fans. I wanted to name him Harry to go along with Bess Houdini, but the boyfriend nixed the idea, so Gibbs it is. Can't change it now anyway, it's on his microchip.

There are some wonderful pinks to choose from this week! What goes better with pink than hearts? Or maybe flatter some of these pinks with a little green?

Book Review - The Curious Curate

I finished reading a book called Agatha Raisin and the Curious Curate by M.C. Beaton. It was a fun little detective novel, although the ending kind of came out of nowhere. It was, however, entertaining. It is one of a whole series of detective novels.

Usually I tend to like these types of mysteries when it's the police investigating, not an amature. I'd probably tend to enjoy the characters more having read more books in the series, but I think I'm going to read something else next instead, and perhaps come back to this one later.

Synopsis:

At the core of every village cozy is a pinch of arsenic. In the Agatha Raisin Cotswold cozies, the arsenic is Agatha herself, a pushy, whiny, unsociable, self-pitying sort who investigates murders in the tiny village of Carsely the way other women might shop, as a distraction from boredom. Despite Agatha, this series, now in its thirteenth outing, is very popular. In the latest, the village is shaken by the appearance of a gorgeous new assistant cleric. Before long, the cleric is hated by the vicar for pulling in record crowds at services and lusted after by every woman in the village. After the cleric is found stabbed to death at the vicarage, Agatha takes it upon herself to discover who did in the body in the library.

Take it Off Tuesday: Entrelac Scarf

Before we get to the sale, I have to tell you about my Valentine's day. The boyfriend came home with the usual roses and chocolate, only this time he remembered my favorite kind...LINDOR TRUFFLES!!! If you haven't tried them, then I suggest you do. They are the smoothest creamiest chocolates ever.

Well, I thought that was it, but then he told me that this weekend we could go to the pound and look for a friend for my doggie Bess. Since my cat passed away, I'd been bugging him about getting another dog, but he kept saying maybe later... now it's a yes! I can't wait till Sunday to start looking.

Now onto the sale!

This week's Take it Off Tuesday Sale is for this Wool Entrelac Scarf in Brown and Pink. You can get 35% off, today only, by using the coupon code: TUESDAY. There is only one available, so whoever buys it first, gets it. Click on the picture for more info about it.

Sunday Funday Video of the Week! Runaway!

This video made me giggle. Who hasn't tried to run away when they were a kid, or at least thought about it. I was the one who only thought about it since I was always kind of a chicken.

Some parents forbid their children, some help their children hoping that they'll change their mind. See what these parents did:

Bess gets into Patty's Day

First off, there was one sale from yesterday's Friday's Favorites! Congrats HeirloomsAndLace! That corset bag is awesome.

Now about St. Patrick's Day:

Shamrock dog sweater for St. Patrick's Day
I've never really put anything for St. Patrick's day in my shop, I mean, aside from having green items. Yesterday I finished, photographed and listed my new Shamrock Doggie Sweater.

Bess, the chihuahua, loves to do photo shoots as it means she gets pieces of cheese or hot dog throughout the whole procedure. Though she can be quite the finicky model as she does not like to show her back to the camera...and if you try and make her, she gets a little mad.

I tried explaining to her that the back is the most important part of the sweater, however she thinks she knows what her best side is. I'm just hoping she's cute enough for people to click on the item, so they can get the full view of the back without the doggie in it...*sigh.

Friday's Favorites... "That's my bag baby!"

For women, purses are a necesity. Some may argue they are for men too, as I know my boyfriend is always asking me to put stuff in mine for him.

Whether it's a casual tote, or something a bit more glamorous, I tried to feature a little bit of everything.

Check out these purses and show them some love!

Take it Off Tuesday -Fingerless Gloves

Before we get to the deal of the week, I have to say that I did something I rarely do... I put a book away without finishing it. I try to mix into my reading some classics every now and again, so I tried to read Crime and Punishment.

Well, I should have known not to open the book, when every Russian friend I had said they read it in school and hated it. If they hated it in their native language, what chance do I stand? But, it took it as a challenge.

I'm sure there are many translations out there, some better than others, but I have no idea how one would make that story readable. I'm so glad I never had to read it in school. Though I hate to leave a book unfinished, there are so many good classics out there, why read one that sucks out my will to live.

Now onto the deal:

This week it's all about keeping your hands warm with these Purple Striped Fingerless Gloves. I'm a huge fan of the fingerless gloves as my hands are always cold, but I hate that clumsy feeling that regular gloves give me.

For today only, you can get 35% off of this lovely pair. Just use the coupon code "Tuesday" when checking out.

There is only one pair available right now, so it's first come, first serve.

Super Bowl!

Though I live in Las Vegas, I'm not really a big gambler...especially where sports are concerned. I do, however, like to bet on the Super Bowl. I don't do any of the fancy bets or point spreads...I don't even watch football the rest of the year, so I pick my team on a whim.

This year, I didn't have the cash to spare on a bet, so I just had to play in my head. I picked the Packers since I'd been to Wisconsin more recently than Pensylvainia. Of course, since I had no money riding on it, they won.

I don't like to watch a game without rooting for one of the teams so it made it a lot more fun. And actually, for the first half of the game, I went grocery shopping and did some errands since the streets were clear of traffic and everyone was home watching the game.

Sunday Funday Video of the Week

For this week, I decided to go back in time, for an oldie but a goodie. This could be one of the first viral videos I ever saw. Though it has been around for awhile, it deserves to come back again.

Ladies and gentlemen, the Evolution of Dance!

Friday's Favorites... They're Grrrreen!

Before we get into the Friday's Favorites, I must say that I'm really confused about what is going on in the etsy forums. I can understand moving some of the things to teams, but promotions??? Really?? I don't want to have to join a bunch of teams just to promote my things, or to see what sales people are having when I'm shopping. I'm so confused....

Ok, enough of the ranting, now onto the favorites!

Green is such a versatile color, it goes great in the summer, and works perfectly in the winter. Plus, it's the color of my birthstone....and, the color of money!! You can never have enough green in your closet, in your jewelry box, or in your wallet.

Please, enjoy the green:

For those that don't know, every Friday, I put together an etsy mini of some of my favorite items made by other sellers and put it on my blog for the Friday's Favorites.

Book Review -The Secret Scripture

The other day, I finished reading The Secret Scripture by Sebastian Barry. Honestly, through the first couple of chapters, I was kinda bored, but then slowly, it sucked me in, until by the last couple of chapters, I couldn't turn the pages fast enough. The writing was beautiful, and you could actually see Ireland through the main characters eyes. There were times when tears sprung to my eyes at what Roseanne was going through, as well as times when I got so angry at the priest that my hands began to shake.

If you like historical fiction, beautiful writing, or an old mystery, then you should definitely pick up this book.

Synopsis:

The latest from Barry (whose A Long Way was shortlisted for the 2005 Booker) pits two contradictory narratives against each other in an attempt to solve the mystery of a 100-year-old mental patient. That patient, Roseanne McNulty, decides to undertake an autobiography and writes of an ill-fated childhood spent with her father, Joe Clear. A cemetery superintendent, Joe is drawn into Ireland's 1922 civil war when a group of irregulars brings a slain comrade to the cemetery and are discovered by a division of Free-Staters. Meanwhile, Roseanne's psychiatrist, Dr. Grene, investigating Roseanne's original commitment in preparation for her transfer to a new hospital, discovers through the papers of the local parish priest, Fr. Gaunt, that Roseanne's father was actually a police sergeant in the Royal Irish Constabulary. The mysteries multiply when Roseanne reveals that Fr. Gaunt annulled her marriage after glimpsing her in the company of another man; Gaunt's official charge was nymphomania, and the cumulative fallout led to a string of tragedies.
