Kitty Toilet Training 5

For those of you who don't know, I'm training my cat, Alfred, to use a human toilet. For more back story, Click Here.

We've finally gotten to the point where we've put a bowl of litter into the toilet. Alfred was puzzled at first, as it is a bowl and hard to dig a hole into. Much of the litter got into the actual toilet the first couple of tries, but now he's a pro.

Unfortunately, now when I remove the bowl to go to the bathroom myself, he looks at me as if to say, "What are you doing? That's mine!"

Now I have to wait until I have a day off so I can catch him in the act and make sure his feet are on the toilet seat. Everything has been so easy as of yet, I have a feeling that this stage is going to be the hardest. When he gets the idea, then I can start reducing the litter, and adding a bit of water to the mix.

On a side note, while playing in the upstairs bathroom (not his bathroom), he fell into the toilet again. That makes 3 dunks in the toilet and he keeps coming back for more. I've never had a cat before that was so ambiguous to water.

New Sock Ideas 2

Well, I finished one of the lion socks, and then promptly ran out of yarn while making the second. You would think that knitting as long as I have, I would be a better judge of how much yarn is needed for a project, but apparently, that is a skill that I am lacking.

Instead, I started working on a new Faux Wrap Sweater that I recently sold. I knew that I didn't have enough yarn for that one, but I figured I'd go to the yarn store and get enough to finish both in one shot. It is so much easier making something for the second time, as there is less guess work and less unraveling to achieve the look you want, as I've already done it once.

Kitty Toilet Training 4

For those of you that don't know, I'm training my cat to use a human toilet. To read about it from the beginning, click on the "cat" label on the left of the screen.

Yesterday, I did the final lifting of the litter box. It's just about level with the toilet now, and Alfred (the cat), still has no problem and has not balked once. When he goes into the bathroom, I check and make sure he's using the litter box, and not just some corner of the room, and so far, so good.

Probably around mid week, next week, I'll try the bowl of litter in the toilet. That will be a big step for him, but I'm pretty sure he'll be alright with it. I really can't wait to get the litter box out of there!

New Sock Ideas

Yesterday, I started on some new house sock ideas. I came up with some patterns with animals on them. I thought it would be something fun to wear around the house when the weather gets colder.

I've just started a pair of lion socks, and I really hope they turn out well. I am always excited when I start a new idea, but I also get nervous, hoping that it will turn out the way I see it in my head. Many times, it doesn't, and then I'm stuck with a bunch of wasted time, with nothing to put in my shop. However, when it does work out, the pride I have in making my vision come to life is immeasurable.

Just last week my vision for a faux wrap sweater came into fruition. I was going to post more about it, but it sold, and I just shipped it off. When I'm finished with some of my sock ideas, I'm definitely going to make another.

Kitty Toilet Training 3

Today is the day that the litter box is getting raised again. Much harder than training kitty to jump on the litter box is finding something sturdy to put the litter box on. I think that having the litter box fall on the cat will probably be a big deterrent for further training, so I want to make sure that it doesn't happen.

So far there have been no accidents since the litter box has been moved and raised next to the toilet. Alfred (the kitty) is the most fearless cat I have ever met, so I'm expecting this next step to go without a hitch.

...now to find something to set the litter box on....

Kitty Toilet Training 2

For those that don't know, I'm training my kitty cat to use a human toilet. You can follow along by checking out the tag "cat" on the left column of the screen.

So far I've moved the litter box into the bathroom and raised it about the height of a phone book...well, exactly the height of a phone book. I used extra newspapers to fill in the gaps so the box wouldn't wobble. Alfred (the cat) is totally cool with this, and I think I'm going to raise it again on Monday.

I could move things along a little faster, as Alfred is very smart and catches on quickly, but I don't want to move things too fast as it might piss him off (pun intended) and he might find other places in the house to go that are more to his liking.

Faux Wrap Sweater, on sale now!
In other news:

I designed and created a new sweater! I call it a Faux Wrap Sweater, as the top half is like your favorite comfy sweater, but the bottom half is a wrap to accent the smallness of your waist. You can have that slimming look, and stay comfortable too!

Kitty Toilet Training

So, for the longest time I've wanted to have a cat that was toilet trained... I mean trained to use a human toilet.

I was searching around the web and I found this wonderful blog (http://www.karawynn.net/mishacat/toilet.html) and thought that I would give it a go.

Today is day one.

Luckily, I already have a cat that is not afraid of the toilet, even though he's already fallen in once (by playing, not with the training process. He's almost 6 months old, so I'm excited to get started.

If this works, I will never have to change the kitty litter again.

My goal is to have him using the toilet by mid August... Let the training begin!

Rain? But it's a Desert!

Last night I was performing magic at one of the new centers out in the northwest of town. It's an outdoor venue which I've been working at for the last couple of months. As they are new, they are providing free entertainment to encourage customers to come and see the new shops. These include caricature artists, balloon twisters, jugglers, magicians, face painters and even a different band every night.

Well, last night, the clouds opened and sheets of rain began to fall. There's not that much shelter in the place so everyone was huddled together, and I was doing my best to keep people entertained until it let up. First it poured for 5 minutes, then cleared, then another 10, then cleared and after the third time, they let us off work early as they figured it was impossible to perform.

The band had it the worst of all, since they had a lot of electrical equipment, and even though they had a tent over their heads, the wind was actually blowing the rain straight at them.

I love the rain, especially since we see so little of it here, and it was nice to leave work a little early.

Fourth of July Fun!

Well, first off, the boyfriend and I never have a day off together. Usually his one day off is Saturday, and I always work then, however, he got the fourth off, and I'm always off on Mondays, so we got to spend it together!

We ran a few of my errands (I know, fun, fun, fun), and then we went out to the lake to pay his boat rent.

It was so hot, and the lake looked so inviting, I said we should take the boat to Hoover Dam and back. In a motor boat that would take only 10 minutes each way, but in our sailboat it's about 45 minutes each direction. We bought some water and headed out.

The motor took quite a bit to get started (yeah, even sailboats have motors, but they don't go as fast as an actual motor boat). The poor boyfriend was soaking wet with sweat pulling and pulling on the cord, but finally we got it started.

Of course once we pulled the boat out, there was not a breath of wind, so we simply motored there and back. Still a relaxing journey, and once you get into the canyon, it's about 10 degrees cooler which is such a relief. I even sat on the bow and dangled my toes in the water.

I wanted to anchor and go for a swim, but neither of us had anything resembling swim suits, and the lake was so busy (it being the fourth) that we would have really needed them if we swam.

A fun day! And then a special dinner of KFC (I hadn't eaten there in years), which tasted so good even though I swear their mashed potatoes and gravy have crack in them as I am still craving more this morning.

Cell Phone Hunt

Well, I told you guys in a previous post that my boyfriend had lost his cell phone on his road trip. I had been following him on Latitude, so I knew the last place that it had sent a signal. We figured that it was on the side of the road somewhere, as it had probably fallen out of his saddlebag on his motorcycle. So, we decided to go on a treasure hunt.

It was quite aways away, but I was promised dinner at Cracker Barrel for a reward, so.... ROAD TRIP.

On our way there, we saw a deer crossing sign, and just then a deer jumped out and ... BAM... it was hit by a car coming in the opposite direction. It was quite a hard hit, and the deer really flew. I started crying as I had never seen an animal killed like that.

We turned around to see if the people needed help.

As no one had cell phone service, we drove closer to the main highway to call for help for them.

Then we drove back to tell them help was on the way, and stayed with them until highway patrol came.

By the time we got to the area where the phone might be, it was dark. So we used flash lights to search the area. Now you have to understand that the boyfriend's cell phone case looks like a black tire...and what kind of crap do you find on the side of the road? Little pieces of black tire.

So it was like, "Oooh! There it is!" ... "Nevermind"

Finally I got back in the car to follow him while he looked....for the next 5 miles.

On the way we found another car with its hazard lights on. We asked if she was alright, and she told us the tow truck was on the way, but she had hit a deer. We told her to holler if she needed us, and continued to look.

A few miles later, we found another dead deer in the road...

In the end, we couldn't find the cell phone and finally gave up.

It was definitely not a good day to be a deer that night.
