Happy Sunday everyone...time for some more laughs. This week I found this Candid Camera show, I think it's from Japan.
There are so many shows like this, but once in a while you find something that's put a little bit of creativity in it. I hope you like it!

Purse/Bag/Wallet Submissions!
Yesterday was extremely fun, and extremely exhausting. The Grand Canyon was gorgeous from the air, though there wasn't much sun which is rare for the desert. Cirque du Soleil's "O" was fantastic! I think it's my favorite Cirque show so far...I've only seen 3 though.
It was a lot more fun than I'm used to having in a single day, so when I got home, I pretty much crashed right on the spot...well, after eating a few Girl Scout cookies...the boyfriend bought a case from his friend's daughters.
Onto the Submissions!
While going on these fun excursions, I realized how important it is to have a good purse or bag, and a good wallet. I know there's some incredible one's out there on etsy, so let's see 'em!
Every Friday, I put together an etsy mini of some of my favorite items made by other sellers...usually in a category of my choosing.
So, if you have a purse, bag, wallet or carrying case in your shop, post the link to it in the comments and check back tomorrow for the "Friday's Favorites"!

In Vegas, Doin' Cool Thingz
Today is going to be an especially fun day. Dad really wants to take a helicopter to the grand canyon, so in a few hours, we're going to Circus Circus to catch a limo, ride down the strip and then board the helicopter. The limo was included weather we used it or not, and living here I could very easily drive us to the helipad, but the boyfriend said, "If it's included, pick a hotel that's north on the strip and get the full experience!"...a great idea, I must say.
Now if that wasn't enough, Dad also really wants to see the Cirque du Soleil show called, "O". They had a local's special going on, so we got a great deal on tickets and we're going tonight. I've wanted to see the show too, so I'm pretty excited.
I hope it lives up to all the hype!
In other news:
I, of course haven't gotten any knitting done while dad is here, but I am almost finished with a new bolero jacket. I'm really hoping to get it done and listed this weekend after he leaves...and of course there's bunches of other projects I want to get started on...I'm almost out of doggie sweaters...yikes!

Dad is here...
My dad got into town yesterday, which is why there was no blog post. The boyfriend and I were up until past 3am cleaning...the house hasn't looked this good in a long time.
It's always difficult when he comes, since he doesn't really like all the Vegas stuff, so more and more we've run out of things to do.
This time, as a special treat, he wants to do a helicopter ride to the Grand Canyon...if he's paying, there's definitely no argument from me. We are going to try to schedule one for tomorrow that goes over Lake Mead, Hoover Dam, the Grand Canyon and then back to Vegas and over the strip. Hopefully it's not booked up because I'm really excited to go.
Today we might go and take a look at City Center. I'm sure my dad will hate it, but I've never been, and I've heard they have some amazing artwork and sculptures all over...so maybe he'll actually be pleasantly surprised.
Now I've got to try to finish all my online stuff before he wakes up....Man, I wish he was a late sleeper.

Friday's Aqua Blue Favorites
The boyfriend went out to the boat yesterday, cleaned it and worked on a few projects. I joined him later in the evening and brought wine and cheese and we relaxed, in dock, and watched the sunset.
I had to get back home to let the dog out, but he stayed the night... Sleeping on the boat is so nice and relaxing, and I'd wished I'd stopped home first to pick up Bess so I could have stayed too...oh well, next time.
Onto the favorites...
Here are some lovely Aqua Blue favorites! Last week we had one sale, let's see if we can do even better this week. I tried to put in a little something for everyone.

Aqua Blue Submissions!
The weather is gorgeous right now...sorry to those out east....It's was in the mid sixties yesterday, and today might get up to seventy. The boyfriend is planning on going out on the boat. I can't go since I have an appointment to fix my loan...sigh.
In honor of going out boating, this week's color is Aqua Blue! Every Friday I put together an etsy mini of some of my favorites made by other sellers...usually in a theme of some sort.
My aqua blue is this beanie. You can click on the picture for more info.
If you have any aqua blue in your shop, post the link to the item in the comments...then check back tomorrow for the "Friday's Favorites"!

The Worst Audition
Normally there are only a few different types of auditions. There's the "cattle call" where everyone shows up, and is given a number. There's the by appointment only, where auditioners are given a time to show up, they come and they audition (usually these run about a half an hour late). Then there's the "appointment first and if we have time we'll see the cattle call" which is self explanitory.
It is NEVER done with both at the same time. I was given a time 11:15 and I got there at 11. Upon getting there I was told that the times didn't matter anymore and that my number was 21. Why they even bothered to give me a number, I don't know, because they'd go out of sequence with no rhyme or reason.
Now I assumed (silly me) that with an 11:15 audition, I'd have no problem getting to my dentist appointment by 3:00.
By 2:00, I'd given up. My name was called and I was told I was now 3rd in line. After they called about 5 people ahead of me, I lost my temper. Threw my promotional material on the table and walked out.
Yes, I need work, but this obviously wasn't a professional company...even scam companies know how to run an audition. Everyone who had a decent act had gotten fed up and all these people were left with (judging from what I saw) were acts that wouldn't have even made the bad real on "America's Got Talent".
Ugh!

I snagged a treasury west! Yay! Please give it a few clicks and comments if you have the time.

A Lovely Valentines
Valentine's day was pretty good for me, although I did have to work. I performed at the Venetian for a half a day, and then it was on to the MGM to perform at a special event.
The event was a large one, and there were lots of performers there so it was nice to see a few old friends. There were 2 stiltwalkers, 3 magicians (including me), 2 jugglers and one acrobat, all of whom I knew and had worked with before.
It is a very rare gig that starts late and ends early, but I wasn't complaining; it meant I could go home to my boyfriend that much sooner.
There were flowers and chocolates waiting for me at home. We ordered pizza, and sat like slobs watching the Olympics. I much prefered this than to going out...I was tired and loved our evening in.

Happy Valentine's Day! Sunday Funday!
Yes, Valentine's day is here! My sweetheart is still sleeping, and probably will still be so when I leave for work, but that's okay since I haven't finished shopping yet.
At first I had no money to buy him anything, so I made him a new beanie because his old one (that I also made) is falling apart. But I couldn't buy him anything else...
Then, yesterday, while looking through my backpack (which I never use much), I found my living statue tip bag which I thought I'd lost. There was a whole shift worth a tips in there. So today, in between jobs, I'm going to get him something special...not that the beanie is not special, but I want to give him something that he hasn't already gotten from me before.
Sunday Funday Video:
In honor of Valentine's day, I thought what could be more romantic than a marriage proposal. I found this one on line, and I think it's sooooo sweet! Enjoy!

Let it Snow, Let it Snow...etc
Though here in Las Vegas, it's a balmy 50 degrees right now, not so for the Eastern part of the US. Lots of blizzards, government closed down in DC, and cold. I like the cold, but not the wind, and I love the snow, but I've never had to live in it for very long. I'm sure that those who are living in it right now, are sick of it.
In honor of all this snow, this week I'm looking for items that keep you warm. My item is this Red and Green Diamond Scarf. You can click on the picture for a better description.
Lets see your items! Every Friday (Well, except for last Friday), I put together an etsy mini of some of my favorite items made by other sellers.

Review --When Will There be Good News--
During my hectic week I managed to finish a really wonderful book When Will There Be Good News by Kate Atkinson. I had picked it up at the library because it sounded interesting, but wasn't prepared to love it as much as I did. I didn't even know that one of the characters appears in other books by her, so I must check them out as well.
Everything about it was wonderful. I fell in love with each of the characters, and was actually disappointed when it was over. The plot was compelling (although there were a few coincidences, in there), and it kept me turning the pages. The writing was also wonderful. What could have been a run of the mill thriller, was brilliantly executed, and some of the observations made me giggle (though it wasn't a funny book).
I recommend this book to anyone who enjoys a good story.
Synopsis (which doesn't do the book justice)
On a country road, six-year-old Joanna Mason is the only survivor of a knife attack that leaves her mother and two siblings dead. Thirty years later, after boarding the wrong train in Yorkshire, Brodie is almost killed when the train crashes. He's saved by 16-year-old Regina Reggie Chase, the nanny of Dr. Joanna Hunter, née Mason. In the chaos following the crash, Brodie ends up with the wallet of Andrew Decker, the recently released man convicted of murdering the Mason family. Enter DCI Louise Monroe, Brodie's former love interest, who's tracking Decker because of a recent case involving a similar family and crime. When Dr. Hunter disappears, Reggie is convinced she's been kidnapped and enlists the reluctant Brodie to track her down.

New Stuff!
I've been able to list a couple of new things in between my hellish schedule but I hadn't had time to blog about it until now...so here you go!
I made these Blue and Pink House Socks recently. I just love the color combination. I keep telling myself that the next pair of house socks are going to be for me, because mine are old and worn out, but then I'm so proud of them that I want to list them, and I think, OK, next pair...lol.
I also made and relisted this Green Cable Headband. I've sold it twice before, so I thought I should give it another go...they're so much fun to make, and green is one of my favorite colors. It keeps the ears warm and the hair back...what more could you want?
In Other News:
I was working and wasn't able to watch the Superbowl and see all the cool commercials...If anyone has a link to some of their favorites, please post them in the comments, I'd love to see them.

Super Bowl Sunday Funday
Yesterday I wasn't able to post. At 7am I was at Town Square doing a charity event for the Make-A-Wish fun run. It was reeeeeaaaaallly cold...what is it with people in Vegas doing outdoor events in February? Then at 11, I was at the Venetian doing my usual six shows, and then after that I had a gig until 9:30pm. Long day, so you can see why I was a bit slacking...but now, I'm back on schedule.
Video of the Week
Most of my readers are from the US, but not all, so I must explain that today is the biggest game of the year for American Football. It's a day where even if you don't watch it at all, or care for that matter, most people will know the score or at least who one. It's also the only day of the year where I put in a bet at the sports book...although, this year I'm not since I have no cash on me this morning and I refuse to bet on credit. If I had bet, it would have been for the Saints (I'm usually wrong, so we'll see how my virtual bet goes.)
In honor of the Superbowl, here's a video of some football bloopers for your enjoyment.

It's over......YAY!!!!!!!
I have finally finished the single hardest gig that I've ever done in my life. For the past four days, I've been doing living statue, outside, in the cold for 8 hours a day. We'd stand there for 2 hours, and then get a 30 minute break.
My feet are sore and swollen, my body feels like one big bruise, and I'm so thankful that it's done.
I wanted to quit so badly, but I just had to keep telling myself, "Four days and the mortgage is paid, four days and the mortgage is paid" over and over again. When standing perfectly still for two hours at a time, you can tell yourself lots of stuff over and over again.
Unfortunately, we did such a good job (there were 4 of us doing this), that they want us back again in August. I'm not sure I'll be up for it, but I'll have to weigh what my bank account says, with the 100+ degree heat.
Today, there will be a lot of couch sitting and lying down...I might have to leave the house soon though, but only to buy donuts to celebrate my wonderful morning.
Thursday, February 4, 2010
One more day
One more day of this gig that I'm doing.
Living statue outside is very hard and very cold...especially for 8 hours a day in 2 hour sets.
I won't be able to do the "Friday's Favorites" this week, but next week, everything will be back on schedule.

Crack of Dawn...
Ok, day one of the convention I'm working and it's 5:45 am and I have to be there at 7...yikes!
I'm doing living statue for a carpet company, and I'm worried that I'll fall asleep while standing up. I tried to go to bed early last night, but I couldn't fall asleep, and then I started stressing that I wouldn't get enough sleep, which then kept me from falling asleep...it was a vicious circle.
I woke up on time...which is really half the battle...the next half of the battle will be getting through the day.
Here goes nothing!
