St. Patrick's Day

When you think of St. Patrick's day, you think of green, beer, parties and pinching. Of the above listed, all I got was green. One doesn't think about getting up at the crack of dawn and doing a parade...that's what I got to do.

The parade was at the Venetian to help promote the gondola rides they have through the Grand Canal Shops. We were dressed and ready to go and paraded down to St. Mark's Square. One of my duties was to help the stilt walker get up the stairs and over the bridge...Not that he really needed my help. He used to do flips and stuff on those things when he was with the Moscow Circus.

They dyed the Canal a bright green (which to me actully made it look a bit more like Venice) and they had a parade of Gondolas and even a little person dressed as a leprichon. He was a cool guy named Dave. The little person we usually use couldn't make it, and his name is (get this)Shorty! He had it legally changed.

We finished the parade without a hitch and then went on to do our regularly scheduled shows...all in all a 10 hour day.

In Knitting News: During the day I have the back for one of the custom sweaters almost goal at work today is to finish that and the sleeves.

  1. Love, Love, Love this photo! It's just priceless! Never thought I'd ever see a Leprechaun in Venice!

  2. It's neat that they get into the spirit! My husband and I were married in Las Vegas almost 5 years ago. We made it to the Venetian but the lines were too long for the gondolas (had to get someone back to the airport). Gonna make it for sure next time we go! Thanks for sharing!

  3. A green canal!!! So cool. I made green mashed potatoes last night. ;)

  4. I'm in Chicago and they die a river green. Thanks for sharing the pics.

  5. It is soo amazing to see this from a participant's point of view. I forgot to tell my in-laws to catch your show when they were in town. Shoot! Thanks for sharing.

  6. What a great way to celebrate!

We had a grade school teacher that kept the boys quiet during indoor recess by telling them if they could out-stare her leprechaun (doll) that he would come to life and share his pot of gold with them. Those boys sat still for minutes on end!

  7. That is so cool! What show are you in?

  8. Ceridwen,

I perform at the Venetian in Las Vegas with the Artiste Del Arte...we do six shows a day in St. Mark's Square.

  9. I had know idea that they die that canal green for St. Patrick's Day. My husband and I went out for our Anniversary that day, but wanted to avoid the tourists! We may have to bring our girls down to see your magic acts (we're locals). :)
