More Ouch...

I'm sorry if this has turned into a whiney blog about my neck, I promise that tomorrow I won't talk about it at all, as it's submissions day.

I think the new chiropractor I saw has made my neck worse.  Last night I came home from work crying, though I did sleep a little better.  Today I am too afraid to do my run, as I really don't want to make it worse than it already is.  Luckily, I haven't been over eating as the thought of putting together a meal is a little daunting at the moment, so I haven't really eaten much.

Now I'm debating whether to go to a different guy, or just let nature take its course.

Plus I have an audition today for a commercial, and I'm not quite sure how I'm going to blow dry my hair...eek!

  1. Hey there! I don't know if you'd be into this, but I just wanted to share my experience with you. I'd had back pain for a few years which had progressed to neck pain and serious headaches by the time I decided to go see a chiropractor. She did manual release therapy and gave me a lot of stretching exercises to do, but it didn't help me much. The other chiro in the office is also a licensed acupuncturist, so she sent me to try it out. I had acupuncture done maybe 6 times in 4 months, and I stopped because I went home for the summer. Since I stopped though, I have had less episodes of back and neck pain than I can count on one hand, so I've been feeling good for 9 months now. I was told that when traditional chiropractic therapy doesn't work, a lot of those patients tend to respond to acupuncture. So if that's something you might be into, I would recommend trying to find a chiro/acupuncturist since I think they have really good knowledge of anatomy. Hope you feel better soon!!

  2. Good luck with your neck! Personally I don't trust chiropractors with neck issues, but it can take a few days for the effects of chiropractic work to make a difference.

Good luck with your commercial audition!

  3. I'd recommend the acupuncture route, if your chiro work doesn't ease the pain by the week-end. The thing is that all alternative therapy does take time! Don't for heaven's sake to running until everything heals a bit more. All that jarring must make things a helluva sight worse - common sense really, isn't it?

My husband, now fully disabled, use to have acupuncture when his fibromyalgia was first diagnose in 1997. He went once a week (it was, unusually, available on our NHS in the UK) and for six months while he was undergoing it, never needed a pain - killer. Alas, we had to move away to an area where acupuncture was neither available nor free! He's suffered the consequences in the intervening period, I fear.

So, give this treatment time: then look up the joint acupuncturist/chiro route if there is one available near you. Good luck
