Step Family

Amazing Johnathan and my friend Penny
Well, the step-family is in town for my step-sister's husband's 40th birthday.

Last night I got us tickets to see the Amazing Johnathan.  He just moved into a new theater at Bally's and I hadn't seen him there yet.  The show was great and he added a couple of new pieces and new jokes which made it really fun to see.

There was a lady in the front row with a service dog, and Johnathan kept picking on them, pretending to be angry that the dog didn't seem to be enjoying the show. Great off-the-cuff stuff.

I wanted to go out with everyone afterward, but I knew I had to work today, and needed to come home and sleep.

Back again

Ok, I'm back from my numerous trips out of town.

This time I was in Virginia with my sister, my dad, my uncle and my brother came down from DC for 24 hours. It was good family time, and a lot of exercise. I'm really sore now.

There was running,
There was tennis,
There was a 4 mile hike,
There was more tennis,
There was a 7 mile hike (which I think was 8)

Now, walking is kind of a problem.  That should hopefully clear up soon.

The Friday's favorites will be back this week, so don't forget to check in Thursday for submissions!

Back to the Real World

I'm back, but only for a bit... I leave on Saturday to visit my dad, and my sister is coming back from Israel so it will be a little family reunion.  I'll also get to see my uncle, which is usually a big deal, but I just saw him at my second cousin's bar mitzvah.

The bar mitzvah was fun.  Even though half of my family is Jewish, this was the first one I'd been too... well, as a magician, the first one that I wasn't paid to be at.  It was good meeting family members that I didn't know existed, and a ton of fun hanging out with my uncle.

The dogs are happy I'm home, and today for the first time, I took them out on one of my runs.  I decided to do a mile to see how they fared.  Gibbs could have gone another mile, but I think Bess was just about done when we had a block to go. Now they are zonked out on the couch and there is peace in the house.

Sister Visit

So, this past week my half sister came to visit for our birthdays. Mine was on the 4th; her's was on the 6th.

We rented jet skis in Lake Mead and sped around the lake for a couple of hours. We took them all the way down to Hoover Dam. I thought it would be a unique way to show her the famous structure.

I have to admit, I was a bit scared at first and would only take the thing around 10 mph...especially in the Black Canyon where the dam is because it was so windy. By the end of our time, I was getting the thing up to 40 and was catching air on some of the waves. Not X Games air, but plenty of air for me.

She was fearless, and though she had never been on one before was going circles around me. She is 12 years younger than me, so besides me being inherently chicken, she had the fearlessness of youth.

By the time I got home, I was sunburned. Of course I put on sun block, it's a necessity in the desert (especially when it gets above 105), however in my hurry and excitement to get out on the water, I missed a few key spots.

The tops of my feet were totally burned (my shoes hurt so bad when I put them on), plus I had a couple painful splotches on my legs and behind my shoulders. I, of course, couldn't be sunburned in a way that gave me that stylish sunkissed look... no, I had to look like I'd contracted some sort of skin disease.

Everything is all healed now, and I've been sticking to shade and/or air conditioning (what a great invention).

Leaving on a Jet Plane

First of all, I would like to say that this week's Stay Cool with Hot Stuff for Summer treasury so far has 96 views, 34 comments, 28 clicks and ONE SALE! Congratulations ReneeBrownsDesigns!!!

In Travel News:

The boyfriend left yesterday afternoon for Wisconson to visit his family. They own a lake house on Lake Wisconson and every year he goes up to help them put in the pier for Summer.

I really wish I could have gone! I love his family and always have so much fun up there. Unfortunately, even if I could have gotten out of work for the weekend, I couldn't afford it.

Memorial Day weekend is always one of the busiest weekends of the year, and there was no way I could get the producer to close the show during that time.

Oh well, he'll have a wonderful time, and he promised to send me lots of pictures. Maybe I'll make a ton of money this summer and we can both go over for Labor Day to take out the pier and still have some fun.
