Submissions: Flowers

Every Friday I put together a treasury of some of my favorite items made by other sellers, post it on my blog and call it the "Friday's Favorites"!

This week I'm looking for anything with FLOWERS. It can be clothing, knits, jewelry, pictures or anything you've got that incorporates flowers.

Post the link to your flower items in the comments, and check back tomorrow for the Friday's Favorites Treasury!

Don't have any flowers in your shop? Feel free to post an item from one of your favorite shops to help spread the love.

Salvage mission update:

When going under the boat to look for tools, the boyfriend didn't take into account the amount of silt that had accumulated under there. If anything as heavy as a tool had dropped from the boat, it's probably buried at least a foot under there... so nothing recovered, but it was still a pretty fun adventure.

Flamingo Magic ... and a scuba dive

Last night I got to perform magic by the pool at the Flamingo Hilton. Though I'd been to the hotel many times, I'd never been out to the pool. There were four magicians performing for the managers of Anna's Linens, and I was in charge (sounds exciting, but all it meant was I had to call the booking agent afterward and tell him how it went.)

The people there were great, and they made performing enjoyable. I actually shop at the store myself, and met the manager of the branch by my house. It's really a mom and pop store that has gone national. The owner was really nice, and you could tell that the workers really respected him and weren't just being nice because he was the owner.

Salvage Mission:

Today after the boyfriend finishes work, we're going on a salvage mission. He's breaking out his scuba gear and going under the boat to collect all the tools that he's dropped (...and a couple of blackberry's). He has an underwater camera that's connected to the TV, so I'll be monitoring his progress. I'm not going under myself, as the water is too cold for a girl like me from Hawaii, but if he loses anything in the summertime, I'll be right there with him.

Camping and Scuba extravaganza!

So, Wednesday afternoon, we drove to Bullhead City, AZ which is about an hour away from Las Vegas and just across the Colorado River from Laughlin. They have these great camping sites right on the river and that's where we set up camp.

We ate our favorite camping food which is egg, cheese and ham, grilled on an english muffin in our grilled cheese maker that we held over the fire. We ate waaaaaay to many of them...but we always do.

Then it was s'mores! We ditch the graham cracker and just stick the chocolate right in the middle of the marshmallow and roast them until it's all melty....we ate too many of them too.

The next day, we packed up our stuff and drove to Cabinsite Cove on Lake Mojave. The water was sooooooo cold...even in our wet suits. We went down to about 60 feet and the water was so clear we could see everything (except for the thing we were looking for).

After a rest, some grapes, some water, and some pretzles, I took over the navigation and we went down again. The water seemed even colder the second time...but no matter, in a couple of minutes I found the sunken school bus we were looking for. It had been sunk there for search and rescue training. We swam all around it, but we were both too chicken to go inside. We floated there, gesturing "after you", "no, after you," until we were both way to cold to stay down any longer.

It was a great trip!

Sunday Funday --Scuba Kitty!--

Since I'm on a whole scuba kick right now, I was thrilled when I found this video of the world's only scuba cat. So cute! And she doesn't even seem to mind it at all.

I know if I had done this with Betty, I would not be here right now to blog about it...She would have been pissed!

I don't even think my dog would like this...although, my doggie is a chihuahua and they're not known for their love of the water.

Submissions!

Scuba diving was great yesterday, but now I'm completely exhausted. We saw some cool stuff down there...a huge beach umbrella, a street light (from before it was a lake), and lots of cute little fish.

I'm now sunburnt, and sore, and I think I want to spend most of the day on the couch...somehow I don't think that's going to happen though.

In honor of scuba diving, this week, I'm looking for items inspired by the sea. (yes, I know I was diving in a lake, but sea inspired just sounds so much better). If you have anything in your shop that is inspired by the sea, post the link to your item in the comments.

Remember to check back tomorrow for the "Friday's Favorites"!

Scuba Scuba

No, this is not my doggie, but it kind of looks like her.
We decided to come home for the evening instead of staying over at Cottonwood. It was a lot closer than we originally thought, and with the dog and things to do at home it just seemed a whole lot easier.

We're leaving soon for our final Scuba class...this one will be a boat dive. The hardest part for me has been equalizing my ears. When we go down in the water I feel like I'm on a plane that's landing too fast. It took a while to get the hang of it, but by the end of the day, I was equalizing like a pro (or how I'd imagine a pro to equalize).

In other news:

I might have gotten a really great statue gig. I'm not sure if I can get coverage yet at the Venetian, and I still need to get ahold of a costume. Of course there's a ton of people I need to call to make this happen and the best time to call them...well, I'm scheduled to be underwater. Hopefully I'm not too late when I can get all my ducks in a row and call them back for confirmation.

Tune in tomorrow for the submissions category of the week!

Friday's Favorites...and stuff

The first scuba lesson went great, even though it was just a classroom session. We have one more classroom one to go before we hit the water. It's going to be so much fun! And yes, (in answer to yesterday's comment) it's for open water certification.

Friday's Favorites

Now onto the favorites!

This week people were asked to submit their items in fall colors and I got quite a few cool selections. Everything from bags to candles, from jewelry to photgraphs...I'm sure there's something here that you'll want to treat yourself or a loved one too!

Enjoy!!!

S is for Scuba and Submissions!

First things first...Today the boyfriend and I are going to our first scuba class. I'm so excited. Although, this class is only a classroom one and we're not getting into the water just yet, soon we will be. The boyfriends sister sent me all her old scuba gear so I'm set...and it's pretty too (pink and purple...I'm such a girl).

These lessons were a birthday present from the boyfriend, and since my birthday was on the fourth and we're just starting the lessons now, it feels more like my birthday month than just a day.

Submissions

Since fall is fast approaching, and since it's so hot here I'd like to think of a cooler time of year to get me through it, this week I'm looking for colors of autumn. Anything you have in your shop that has a fall pallet, post the links here...and remember to come back tomorrow to see the "Friday's Favorites collection.

This Bolero jacket in red and cream is my submission...show me your's!
