Free Crochet Pattern

American Flag Dog Sweater
I really want to get my pattern for my American Flag Dog Sweater up for sale, but I'm worried that the star I created will be difficult to understand in the directions.

So for this week, I decided to give the pattern away for free for those that want to try it out and give me their feedback.

Simply send me an email at SleightlyWordy@aol.com and I'll send you the pattern. I would really appreciate the feedback, especially on the star.

Thanks you guys!

Scrunchies are Fun

Blue Beaded Scrunchie
I just listed this beaded scrunchie today.  I just love the idea of making something everyday, elegant, and I think that the beads do just that.

Great for a night out when you're having a bad hair day. And a wonderful alternative to a boring pony tail holder.

The yarn is super soft to avoid gripping the hair to much, and wrapped twice should hold most types of hair while giving a cool ruffled effect.

I have a few more in the wings waiting to be listed, so keep your eyes peeled.

While the Boyfriend's Away...

No, the mice will not play.

I still have this stupid cold, and so after doing only the errands that were absolutely necessary, I sat in HIS chair and dozed the rest of the day and into the evening.

I made today's to do list, but I think it still might be too ambitious, as now I have a headache from all of yesterday's nose blowing.  I'm going to follow the list from most important to least important, so that way, when I give up, at least things like bills have gotten paid.

I really need to take pictures of Bess in the new crochet dog sweater I designed.  I really want to put it up on etsy, but it will be difficult without the boyfriend to distract the other dog.  Gibbs doesn't want to do what you tell him to, and only wants to do what Bess is doing.

I wrote out the pattern for the sweater too, but I want to get my friend to try out the tricky section to see if I wrote it out right before I list it.  It makes sense to me, but that doesn't mean it will make sense to anyone else.

So for a week the boyfriend is at his mechanics training thing, and while I could be out with friends or watching the trashy tv shows that he hates, so far none of that has happened.

Out of Yarn! Help!

Sometimes when I start to create something for the first time, I don't necessarily think the thing all the way through, and then I'll run out of yarn. Most of the time I tend to use yarn that comes in colors that have been around for years and that I know I can easily find.

Did this happen this time? No...and of course it's the piece I'm pretty psyched about. It's kind of like this Swirly Scarf except that it's more intricate, will be an infinity scarf, and it's made of wool.

It was almost finished (because of course that's when it always happens, it never happens when you're only a quarter of the way through and can easily change gears...although, come to think of it, if I ran out of yarn a quarter of the way through, then I'd really have to reevaluate my eyesight and my guestimation abilities). I have half of the outer border and the inner border to go.

If you have, or know anyone that has PATONS YARN IN ROYAL PURPLE, I would be very happy if you contacted me so that I can buy just one more skein...(Ha! That almost makes me sound like a drug user).

I'll also continue my search online and hopefully, someday, this piece will make it into my shop.

Submissions -being well "red"

Every Friday I put together an etsy mini of some of my favorite sellers, post it on my blog, and call it the "Friday's Favorites"! This week it's all about RED!!! If you have something red in your shop, or know someone who has some red in their shop, post the link here, then check back tomorrow for the Friday's Favorites!

Red and White Swirly Scarf

This week, my submission is my brand new Red and White Swirly Scarf. I made by using a hairpin lace technique, and I really love how it turned out. Depending on the response to this one, I might start making it in other color combinations too.

Remember to list your items and come back tomorrow!

Merry Christmas, Happy Headbands

I recently made and posted some new Headbands! I designed them so that it would have a cable stitch look, while being a crochet piece, and I really like how they turned out.

I also wrote up the Pattern for them as well. If you purchase the pattern, you have permission to sell anything you make. They are not hard to do, though the X pattern may seem a bit daunting at first, it is comprized of very simple steps, and if you take them one at a time, you'll find it easier than you think.

PS. I'm very excited about tomorrow's video of the week, my dad sent it to me, so be sure to stop by and see it.

Re-shooting pics, Plus Submissions!

Upcycled Blue Sparkle Shawl
I was going to show you guys the newest doggie sweater that I made, but it sold shortly after listing... that's never happened before...yay!

Yesterday, I also reshot my Upcycled Blue Sparkle Shawl. It hadn't been getting as many views as I thought it deserved, and I think this time I was able to show more of the blue and the shimmer. I really hate retaking pictures, but sometimes the payoff in the end is worth it.

Submissions:

Every Friday, I put together an etsy mini of some of my favorite items made by other sellers and post it on my blog for the "Friday's Favorites". This week, in honor of my newly photographed shawl, I'm looking for CROCHET ITEMS. If you have a favorite crochet item in your shop, post the link here, and check back tomorrow for the "Friday's Favorites"!

Between the Shows

When I'm performing at the Venetian, we do 6 shows a day (which is a lot for a performer), but sometimes that's not as interesting as what we do in between shows.

Right now, one of the opera singers is pregnant, and a bunch of us crochet, so we're all taking turns teaching her. While at the same time, one of the other singers who crochets wants to learn how to knit, so I'm helping her make a scarf. She's doing well, but every time she has to stop to do a show, I have to tell her when she gets back whether she's on a knit or purl row.

At the same time, one of the Russian stilt walkers is trying to study for his citizenship test. The English used in these tests uses very complicated words, so he's not only having to memorize American history, but also words like "accomplish" instead of simple ones like "do".

It does make for an interesting time... Off to work now...

Friday's Purple Favorites...Plus a Pattern!

Purple is such a fun color! There were so many pretty things, I had to choose 12 instead of 8. I hope you like these picks!

Show these artists some love, or maybe find something for your next project...and don't forget, Christmas is fast approaching!

Purple crochet scarf pattern

In other news:

I wrote up and listed my first pattern! The Purple Pineapple Scarf Pattern is now up and ready for purchase. And yes, you have my permission to sell the scarves you make if you wish.

I'm Back!

I got back from Japan about a month ago, but it was soooo hot here (around 110 degrees), that I couldn't even think about knitting, let alone selling it...

Well, today All Things Tangled is back in business. Since everything has expired, I'm going to slowly renew things back in until my shop is full. I've had lots of ideas about things to make, so you might see them popping up soon.

If you have any ideas of something you would like to see in the shop, let me know... I'm always on the hunt for inspiration.

Trying to stay afloat for Summer

Today I've been trying to figure out how to focus my summer advertising on the Southern Hemisphere. Since most of my items are things to keep you warm, and since down there winter is approaching, it seems like the perfect thing to do. It's been harder than I anticipated.

Project Wonderful now allows you to focus your campaigns in different areas, but unfortunately the choices are US (north), Canada (north), Europe (north) and other. I'm trying other to see how it goes, but I have no idea how many Southern countries are in that group. So far on my google analytics I've had one hit from South Africa...but I don't know if it even gets cold there at all.

I'll keep plugging away, in the mean time, here are some shameless promotions of some of the things I have in stock.

New Stuff!

I've been able to list a couple of new things in between my hellish schedule but I hadn't had time to blog about it until now...so here you go!

Blue and Pink house socks...warm and cozy!
I made these Blue and Pink House Socks recently. I just love the color combination. I keep telling myself that the next pair of house socks are going to be for me, because mine are old and worn out, but then I'm so proud of them that I want to list them, and I think, OK, next pair...lol.

I also made and relisted this Green Cable Headband. I've sold it twice before, so I thought I should give it another go...they're so much fun to make, and green is one of my favorite colors. It keeps the ears warm and the hair back...what more could you want?

In Other News:

I was working and wasn't able to watch the Superbowl and see all the cool commercials...If anyone has a link to some of their favorites, please post them in the comments, I'd love to see them.

The Socks have Friends

Nice and warm house socks...go ahead, buy yourself a pair.
I finished my Pink and Black House Socks a couple of days ago, but haven't had time to post them. You can click on the picture for a more detailed description. Unlike the last pair I made, these ones I crocheted. They're super warm and cozy, and if by January, there's a pair that hasn't sold, I'm taking them for myself.

Right now I'm working on a custom doggie sweater, and hopefully will be finished with it by the end of the day. Then I need to make some more, headband/earwarmers to replace the ones that have sold.

Busy, busy, busy.

Money Monday!

Mondays seem to get such a bad rep. Well, not necessarily out here in Vegas where very few people actually start their work week then, but for most of the country they do.

So cheer yourself up this dreary Monday and buy yourself something nice, and even save a few bucks in the process.

$5 REBATE!!!!

Click on the socks for a better view!

If you treat yourself to these cozy Red and Green House Socks, you will receive a $5 rebate via paypal...They also have free shipping anywhere in the US and Canada and affordable worldwide shipping. How cool (or warm) is that?

...Or you can tell your friends, and maybe they'll buy you them for Christmas! It's coming up faster than you think.

Simply type "$5 rebate" in the buyers comments, and you'll get $5 back by the end of the day.

New Item! ...and more heat...

It's hot and stormy in Vegas right now. And I don't mean the good kind of stormy where it cools everything off, but it's just clouds and thunder and lightning, but the heat is still there. It's only 8 in the morning and it's already 90 degrees.

The worst is finishing up work and taking the parking garage elevator. There are stairs that face west (which make them nice and toasty), and an elevator, with absolutely NO ventalation...If it broke down, I have no idea how many minutes people would last in there.

The lowest floor we can park on is 5, so when I get lucky and park there, it's actually cooler to take the stairs...as you park higher and higher up, you kind of have to judge whether the heat you create walking up stairs in the sun in 110 degrees is going to cancel out not going in the elevator.

If I could live in Vegas but have the weather in Portland, Oregon, life would be awesome.
Give these socks a click to see more pictures!

In New Item News:

I finished my Aqua and Dark Blue House Socks. Since the pink ones sold a couple of weeks ago, I thought I'd make some replacements. They're so cozy...I have a pair that I wear in the winter over here (yes, there will be coolness coming in a few months), and they keep my feet from going numb on the cold tile in the kitchen.

I hope you like them!

Another Sale!

I made another sale last night. That's 2 in the past month. After a reeeeallllly long dry spell (was that enough e's and l's?), I'm hoping things are starting to pick up.

These are the wrist warmers that sold last night.

This time I sold a pair of rainbow wrist warmers.

Even though I'm always elated when I sell something, I also always get really nervous. It's not just a product, it's something that I worked really hard on and something that I put a little bit of myself into. I worry that people won't like it, that it will get lost in the mail, that something will happen (I don't know what this mysterious "something" is, but I worry about it just the same).

One of my "kids" will be shipped off to Florida today, and I hope their journey is a good one.
