Hello?...Blackberry?...Are you there?

Yesterday after work, the boyfriend went out to the boat to take a mold of the front of it so his friend could make a figure head for the front. It's going to be awesome! He sketched out this clown reaching out over the bow and it's going to be holding the lights that are at the front (I'm sure there's a name for them, but if I ever learned it, I've now forgotten).

He sent me a picture of the mold being made, but it was dark, and I had no idea what he was even making a mold of. When I got home and he wasn't there, I texted him...never heard back.

He came home later holding the mold, but kind of down trodden...when asked what was wrong, he responded, "Let's just say, the carp under the boat are now making long distance calls to China."

...Thank goodness for computer back up.

In other news:

The saga of the clown pants will continue today...Though they'll be small, I'm hoping they'll be finished. I'm also going to go online and look at Zoot Suit pants patterns, and maybe next week make another attempt.

Friday's Favorites --PLAID--

Well, the clown pants are going...but not great. I forgot to listen to my mother's golden rule on sewing from a pattern..."No matter what it says, or what size it says, always make it bigger...they always run small."

Well, needless to say, the pants fit me (quite nicely, but the back pocket is a little ugly). The boyfriend says to finish them in case I need to wear them for a gig with him, so hopefully these will still turn out ok, and then I can start the process all over again...*sigh*...

So in honor of the plaid clown pants, this week's Friday's Favorites is all about the plaid.

For last week's "Friday's Favorites" we had one sale! Congratulations Vegancraftastic!!!

The clown pants I'm making are coming along nicely, I think. The front is done with the pockets, and now I'm going to start on the back pockets.

The whole thing is a blue plaid, with red and gold accents. And I think there's enough material to make a vest when I'm done.

Me and my Big Mouth

So as if I don't have enough projects going on...

My boyfriend came home yesterday complaining that his clown costume doesn't fit anymore (yes, I'm dating a clown), and he needs to find someone to make him a new one.

...this is where the big mouth part comes in...

I say, "Well, I can make you one."

He says, "But baby, you don't know how to sew!"

...this of course clinches the deal, and lays down a challenge for me...

I say, "Just because you haven't seen me sew, doesn't mean I can't do it!"

...This is true, I can sew, but I haven't in a reeeally long time. I do have a nice sewing machine though...

So off we went to JoAnn's last night, picked out a pattern and material. He, of course, had alterations he wanted me to make to the pattern (Yikes!), and now I'm all set to go.

Of course I'm have two custom orders to be done, and lots of busy work that needs doing....sigh...me and my big mouth.

My Boyfriend's Famous...

Well...not really, but he was on TV last night.

I don't know how many of you watch the "Great American Roadtrip"...I hadn't seen it before last night. It's very much like the Amazing Race, but it's families in RV's travelling accross the country doing challenges and getting voted off.


Last night, the Las Vegas episode aired, and they had done one of the challenges at Circus Circus. Two clowns held a bunch of balloons that needed to be popped to find the letters that led to the next hotel, and my boyfriend was one of them. If you saw the episode, he was the taller one without the curly hair.

They filmed it a few months ago, and of course we promptly forgot all about it until a bunch of friends called to remind us that is was on. He got a couple good close ups, and everytime he was on, we both screamed like little girls.

A Clown Show

Last night I helped out with a show that the boyfriend was doing. (For those that don't know, he's a clown). When I say helped, I mean I helped load props in, load props out and took some pictures during the show...

A lot of people give clowns a bad rap, because they've only seen really bad ones or scarry ones perform, but a great clown is an amazing thing to see. My boyfriend performed with another former Ringling Bros clown and together they did some amazing juggling, hillarious comedy and broke in a couple of new routines that I hadn't seen before.

I also love the fact that his make-up isn't anything like a creepy bozo the clown. Sure he's got a little white on his face, but he looks so sweet and innocent...you just want to give him a sqeeze.

Yesterday a few of us went down to Circus Circus to watch the boyfriends show and see the scooter in action. I took pictures and video of him...he's so cute! He made a cool little montage of the video to put on his myspace (I'd post the link, but I think he has his preferences set to private).



You can see the bubbles coming out of the tailpipe. The kids were having a great time chasing them...it was like a parade!



No, the scooter is not breaking down...he has a fog machine on there and makes it smoke at whim!

I couldn't get a photo of him shooting water at people...it doesn't photograph very well. The kids were loving it though...and I'm sure as we hit the 120 degree weather this summer, the water gun is going to be more and more popular!

Don't forget, tomorrow is "Tuesday's Tips for Etsy"...it could be something good (I hope).

Sunday Funday...and some knitting

Well, I'm almost finished with one of my two sweater custom order set. The goal of course is to finish it today. (Do I say that every day?) I just have the collar left to do on the black one and then I can start on the white one. I think I can get a couple of good hours in this morning.

This afternoon, I'm headed off to Circus Circus to meet up with some friends and watch the clown scooter in action! I'm going to bring the camera along, so hopefully I don't do something stupid like leave it in the car, and hopefully I'll have something to show you guys tomorrow.

...And I made another sale! Whee! Unfortunately, the post office that was open on Sunday has closed, so I'll have to wait until tomorrow to mail it...I'm really going to miss that post office...*sigh*

Scoot Scoot!

So the other day, the boyfriend was at the thrift store and saw this scooter for 30 bucks...He texted me immediately and said he found the perfect clown scooter. (For those that don't know, my boyfriend is a former Ringling Brother's clown and now performs in Las Vegas.) There was no plug or battery charger included (hence the cheapness of the price), but he's really good with wiring and electronics and stuff so he was hoping he could fix it.

He didn't want to spend the money without me seeing it first (I'm supposed to stop him from buying things), and when I saw it, I said that it was totally cool and he should go for it.

After a couple of grueling hours, success! He got it working! The rest of the evening, we took turns riding it around the parking lot...it goes about 15 mph, and with his height, it is really the perfect clown scooter!

Now he's painting it and tricking it out...Hopefully he'll be performing on it soon.
