Leaving for Japan

I'll be leaving to do my magic show in Japan on Thursday, and I'll be gone for 3 months. The boyfriend and the ferocious chihuahua will be watching the house.

If there is anything you have wanted to buy from AllThingsTangled, you have until Wednesday to do it. After that, my shop will be on vacation until August. I'll still be knitting in my spare time over there to help stock the store a little more for when I get back.

I'll try to blog occasionally to let everyone know how it is going in the land of the rising sun.

Happy Gloves are Here!

Yes! I have finally listed my Happy Gloves in Pink and Brown on AllThingsTangled! I had to call them happy because of the colors and how the design came out. Hopefully they'll make the people looking in my shop happy too! (fingers crossed)

In Other News:

The possibility is great that I might be doing my show outside of Las Vegas. I won't say where until the contract is signed, but it should be lots of fun. I'll have to put my etsy shop on vacation for 3 months while I'm there, but don't worry, I'll be making lots of things to stock it up for the winter season.

Hopefully I'll know soon when this is going to happen, could be a week or a month so I'm trying to get all of my ducks in a row.

Lazy...

Summer makes me lazy. There is less call for knits when the weather starts to get warm, and therefor less motivation for me to promote AllThingsTangled as much as I do in the colder season. I've had a pair of gloves waiting to be photographed and listed, but they are just sitting there patiently.

I've also been working on a kindle cover, which would only take me an hour or so to finish, but it too, sits patiently in my knitting bag.

My goal is to really stock up my shop for winter and have a number of items in each of the categories, and also to create a couple of new ones. The work is going slow right now, but I'm still going to try to keep plugging away.

Sunday Funday Video...

Oakland was a ton of fun! We went to the sailboat convention and saw tons of things that we couldn't afford. The weather was beautiful, the food was amazing, unfortunately we didn't even have time to make it into San Fransisco.

I knew I wouldn't have a moment to knit, so I left it at home. Tomorrow I'll have a pair of gloves to photograph and list, and hopefully my Kindle cover will be ready to go up as well.

Sunday Funday Video of the Week

In honor of all the boating, I found this video of some guys on their first time out in the water. My first sailing trip was on a HobiCat very much like this one.
Enjoy...

Out of Town

The boyfriend and I are going to Oakland for a few days to see the boat show, so there won't be any new blogs this week.

My AllThingsTangled knit shop will still be open and all items bought will be shipped out the following Monday.

Book Review: Olive Kittridge

It has been a while since I've read a really fabulous book, and Olive Kittridge by Elizabeth Strout definitely fits the bill. Through a series of stories you find out about this strong yet frustrating lady, and through each person, the author manages to touch your heart. I was very sad when it ended, not because the ending was sad (I won't say whether it was or wasn't), but I'd fallen in love with this book and I wanted it to go on, and on, and on.

Synopsis

“Hell. We’re always alone. Born alone. Die alone,” says Olive Kitteridge, redoubtable seventh-grade math teacher in Crosby, Maine. Anyone who gets in Olive’s way had better watch out, for she crashes unapologetically through life like an emotional storm trooper. She forces her husband, Henry, the town pharmacist, into tactical retreat; and she drives her beloved son, Christopher, across the country and into therapy. But appalling though Olive can be, Strout manages to make her deeply human and even sympathetic, as are all of the characters in this “novel in stories.” Covering a period of 30-odd years, most of the stories (several of which were previously published in the New Yorker and other magazines) feature Olive as their focus, but in some she is bit player or even a footnote while other characters take center stage to sort through their own fears and insecurities. Though loneliness and loss haunt these pages, Strout also supplies gentle humor and a nourishing dose of hope. People are sustained by the rhythms of ordinary life and the natural wonders of coastal Maine, and even Olive is sometimes caught off guard by life’s baffling beauty.

Remember, knits are great to snuggle up with while you read a book...check these out.

The Drama of Gloves

So, I've been working on this pair of gloves for what seems like forever. Well, not really, first I was working on this really cool retro crochet halter top, but how I thought it would look and how it was turning out were two different things, and since I would never wear it, I couldn't even think about putting it in my etsy shop. So I scrapped it.

AllThingsTangled knit gloves come in pairs.

Now I'm working on these gloves. I have this beautiful soft yarn in pink, white and brown, but I keep needing to adjust my guage with number of stitches and needle size. They keep turning out huge, and unless my customers want to wear them while playing for the yankees, I have to do them over...again.

So that is going to be today's project...well, after I finally file my tax return...I'm late this year (for me, not for the IRS).

Sunday Funday Video!

On Tuesday, I was reading http://tipsylaundry.blogspot.com and she posted a fantastic caricature how-to video. It was fun and informative, though I still don't think I would be able to do it. Take a look for yourself and see if it is something that you can do!

Favorites -Don't be sad, Be blue!

When I was looking for blue submissions, someone asked me whether I was doing it for autism awareness month. Unfortunately, I didn't even know that blue was their color, but I guess it turns out to be appropriate. I didn't even know that it was autism awareness month, but I probably should have since I'm performing at a charity even for it next Saturday.

.....Anyway....

Here are some beautiful blues to feast your eyes, and perhaps your wallets on. Even if you can't buy something, remember that hearts are free. So go ahead and spread the love.

Remember to tune in tomorrow for the Saturday Sale!
