Friday's Favorites... Sorry...

My mother passed away Thursday night, so I have not had a chance to do the Friday's Favorites.

She was a wonderful woman who will be missed, but now she is no longer in pain.

I will post again soon.

Thanks for your understanding.

Running: New Route

I really didn't want to go running today.  So I thought that changing my route might help motivate me.  I planned it out so it would be a little longer than I went before, but not too much longer to make me want to give up.

I held up pretty well, and during the middle section I actually got into a nice rhythm where my legs weren't hurting and I wasn't gasping for breath, but I wasn't going to slowly either.

When I finished my run, I looked at my phone (I have a handy dandy pedometer app), and it was completely frozen on the lock screen.

I have since fixed it, but now I don't know how far I actually went (the map and actual distance differ a bit), and I'm not sure how fast I went.  *sigh* ... I was so excited to look down and see my accomplishments, and now I have to wait until Sunday so I can do it all over again.

Damn technology!

Bird Feeds Dog... Too Cute!

I saw this video this morning on CNN, and thought it was just the cutest thing, so I had to share it with you guys.

I've never wanted to own a bird before, but I wouldn't mine, if it was like this birdie.

Dog Park Wrap Up

We actually had a tough time getting to the dog park yesterday.  The one that we usually go to was closed for renovations.  I had heard there was another one around, so I looked at my trusty phone map app, and sure enough there it was.

It was actually nicer than the place we usually go...

The dogs fared ok.  Bess (the chihuahua) was happy as a clam running around and marking things, but didn't really like it when other dogs came up to her.

Gibbs (the puggle, chug, whatever) did a bit better.  At first he was frightened and hung right behind my heels.  Halfway through our visit, a Jack Rustle came in and immediately Gibbs ran up to him and they ran around and started playing.  He seemed so happy.

Eventually both dogs were tired out and came and sat at my feet, so home we went where we all had a good nap.

Running & The Dog Park?

... Well, not at the same time...

I just finished my run for today, and still it's not getting any easier.  I really want to up my distance and get a little closer to my goal, but I don't think I'm ready yet.  A quarter of the way of my current route, I already feel like I'm going to die.

We'll see... Wednesday is my next running day, so maybe I'll have the guts to go further by then.

Doggies:

Bess and Gibbs, the fur monsters
It's been a really long time since I took the dogs to the dog park, so I think I might do that today.  Bess, the chihuahua, really needs to go more often so she can get used to other dogs.  She doesn't attack them, but she gets really nervous when they come up to her.

Gibbs, the Puggle or Chug (or whatever he is), is a different story.  He's ok with other dogs, but people make him nervous and he tends to hide behind mommy (that's me).

But the best thing about the dog park is they both come home exhausted, and the house is quite peaceful afterward.

New Item: Grey and Green Socks

Grey and Green House Socks
Yesterday, I listed a new pair of Grey and Green House Socks. I'm really happy with how they came out, especially since I used a new stitch on the cuff with cute little bobbles.

I'm also happy with how the photos came out.  My boyfriend gave me cool lighting for Christmas, and I've been playing with it and the right backgrounds to try to get some good shots.  Now that I'm happy with the picture, I guess I'm going to have to retake a bunch of my less-than-beautiful pictures.

PS: The top with the new edging will be coming out in the next batch of photos.

Yay for Edging!

So I finally found an edging I like for the new top.  It won't be done to list it today, but it will be soon. For you knitters out there, it's a purled attached icord.

I still have a lot to do today.  I will be listing a new pair of socks on etsy that will have to be photographed, plus I'm listing a few items on ebay that also have to be photographed.  I hate setting up all the camera stuff, so I try to wait until I have a bunch of things waiting to be listed so I can do it all at once.

... ok, now I hear my cat trying to get into the cupboard, this can't be good, I'd better go and check.  ...until next time.

Running: It's getting harder

So, good news: I didn't skip this Sunday's running!

Bad news: It's getting harder.

Now I may be wrong, but I was under the impression that if you do something over and over again, it should get easier. Especially where exercise is concerned.  Your muscles are supposed to get stronger, and able to do more.

So, why is it that now every time I go running, it gets harder and harder.  I usually run 2 days a week, though I did skip last Sunday.  Now, less than a minute after I start, my legs are burning and I'm ready to quit.  I make myself keep going, but it's not getting any easier.

I really want to be done with this 2 mile route and move on to a 2.5 mile route, but I don't see this happening in the near future.  My goal is 4 miles.  At some point (sooner rather than too much later), I want to be able to run 4 miles twice a week.

*sigh*, I guess I'll just keep plugging away.

New Top, Edging Process

Well, I finished my newest top... well... almost finished... well, it's practically done, except for the edging.

Now I'm kind of stuck.  Even though it's a knit top, I wanted to crochet a crab stitch around the neck and arms.  It looked really cool on the V-neck part, but the back of the neck was too rolly for my liking.  Now I'm kind of stuck.  I have a couple more ideas to try, but I really hate unraveling.

Once I finish this top, I'm resting my creative juices and am going to remake a couple of sold items so I can re-list them.  I don't like the pressure of made to order, so I always have one ready to go if it's listed in my shop. ...unless it's a custom order, that's a fun made to order.

Catching Up

In running news:
After I skipped Sunday's run, it was very hard to make myself do it today, but I did.  I thought I was going so fast too, and by the end of it I was so tired that I was sure that I did a better time than last week... Actually, it was slower.  I could be due to missing a day, time of the month, or working and being tired.  Oh well, Sunday, here I come.

In cleaning news:
On Monday, I was going to clean the entire house.  Well, it started taking longer than I thought.  After 3 hours I got the downstairs done (not including the kitchen), then I called it a day.  I won't have much time to do anything today, but I'm going to try to get the upstairs done tomorrow.

In knitting news:
I'm almost finished with my newest top.  I'm really digging it, and now I'm not sure if I want to sell it, or keep it for myself.  I doubt I'll finish it today, but I'm going to give it the old college try.

I Love Cleaning

... Well, I don't really, but I'm trying to psych myself up for a big house clean today.  Aside from day to day cleaning, I'm really trying to do a big clean once a month.  I was supposed to do it on the first, but life got in the way.

Every time I had a day off since the first, I planned to do it, then I had too many other pressing matters and it got pushed off again.  Of course I still have lots of other things that need to happen today, but I'm going to do the big clean first.

I'm estimating an hour and a half for the upstairs, half an hour for the downstairs, and half an hour for the kitchen.  Yes, the kitchen is actually downstairs, but I think of it as an entity unto itself.  Two and a half hours... I can handle that...

I just need to keep repeating... "I love cleaning...I love cleaning..."

Gigs and Exhaustion

Ok, so I'm skipping my running today.  I'm just too exhausted.  The past two days were so chalked full of work, plus I have to do living statue today, that I don't think I can make it.

Performing at Sinsations.  Just got free from my handcuffs
Thursday, Friday, and Saturday, I was in a show called "Sinsations". This is, of course, in addition to working at the Venetian, so I would finish my last show there, do my hair, drive over to the next theater, get set up and do another show.

The shows went great, but now I'm so tired.  One of the Statues at the Venetian just got married, and I told her I would work her shifts so she could go on her honeymoon.  It's not as altruistic as it sounds, statue is one of the best paying gigs over there and I got bills to pay.

My next running day is Wednesday, I'll be sure not to skip that one.

Running Faster

So I know you aren't supposed to compare yourself to others, but when my friend posted on Facebook that he ran 3 miles in the time that I take to run 2, well, I thought I should try to step up my game a little.  I mean, not only are more calories burned, but what a time saver, especially since my goal is 4 miles.

So today I made a conscious effort to go faster.  Yes, it was harder, yes, I slowed down a bit from time to time (I didn't walk though), and I survived.  I burned 20 more calories than I normally do, and I was doing a 12.6 minute/mile pace.  Last week I was at a 13.

I know I want to increase my distance soon, but I think this week I'll be focusing on picking up my pace.
