I really want to get my pattern for my American Flag Dog Sweater up for sale, but I'm worried that the star I created will be difficult to understand in the directions.


So for this week, I decided to give the pattern away for free for those that want to try it out and give me their feedback.

I finally have some new items listed!


For mother's day, I have two "Mom" coffee cup cozies! One in purple (click here) and one in blue and green (click here).  Both I think will be great gifts for that special mother. Moms need coffee, at least I would if I were a mom, and keeping it warm is important.






I also listed an American Flag Dog Sweater. This will be great for memorial day or the forth of July.  I'll also be listing the pattern for this soon, I just need someone to test out the directions for making the star.  Just because I think its clear, doesn't mean other people will.

I was so excited, I finally bought some catnip and was waiting anxiously for the boyfriend to come home so we could see how Alfred would react to it.

He could have cared less... Maybe he's too young to enjoy it (going on 11 weeks or so now), or maybe he's just one of those cats that doesn't like it.

Oh well, he's still rolly poley and playful and cute, so who needs it?

Bess gets into Patty's Day

Now about St. Patrick's Day:



I've never really put anything for St. Patrick's day in my shop, I mean, aside from having green items. Yesterday I finished, photographed and listed my new Shamrock Doggie Sweater.

Bess, the chihuahua, loves to do photo shoots as it means she gets pieces of cheese or hot dog throughout the whole procedure. Though she can be quite the finicky model as she does not like to show her back to the camera...and if you try and make her, she gets a little mad.

I tried explaining to her that the back is the most important part of the sweater, however she thinks she knows what her best side is. I'm just hoping she's cute enough for people to click on the item, so they can get the full view of the back without the doggie in it...*sigh.

Weekend Recovery...and other things

Well, it takes me until Tuesday to finally recover from the performing frenzy of the weekend. Although it isn't all relaxation now, I picked up a modeling job as a favor to a friend of mine. A looooong time ago I was a dancer and worked as a showgirl a little bit, now I'm going to be modeling a showgirl costume made entirely of balloons! ...it's a good thing I don't have a latex allergy ... and apparently I will be wearing something underneath so that it doesn't chaffe.



Before the gig, I have a great idea for a chunky doggie cardigan... fingers crossed that it turns out the way I see it in my head.

In other news:

I made my first doggie hoodie!!! I'm really proud of it, it's made of soft acrylic yarn and lined in fun fur. (I know dogs already have fur, but mine needs all the help she can get...lol)

Treasuries Love Bess

My Autumn Wool Dog Sweater modeled by my cute doggie Bess has appeared in yet another treasury. I think it's like the 7th since I re-opened my shop in September. I would have figured that it would have sold by now, but this hasn't really been the season for any of my doggie sweaters so far.

It's still early yet, and the holiday rush really hasn't begun... I'll just keep plugging away, and Bess will still work on her "modeling career".

Dog Sweater and Doggie submissions!

I've made a few sales recently, and I realized that my "doggie stuff" category is running really low on merchandise. So I stopped working on the human sweater I was working on and started working on a doggie one. I just added my newest DOGGIE SWEATER a few minutes ago.

This one is made from recycled yarn! I bought a really ugly sweater, made from beautiful yarn and took it apart. There was a ton of yarn in the thing. I made a capelet (which sold), and now a doggie sweater. I think at some point when my "scarves" section is running low, I'll make a scarf out of the remainder too!

Finally getting busy!

In magic news:

The freelance gigs are finally starting to pick up. I have 2 coming up this month, and 2 that still have to be confirmed. I have been stressing about the economy all summer...and I didn't know if the lack of work was because Summer is inherently slow or if the economy was taking its toll. So far, so good...

In Statue News:

I actually have a statue gig at Caesar's this weekend for a Canadian company. They seem really nice and I really hope that I live up to their expectations. It's going to be 3 days of hard work (yes, standing still is really hard work), but I think it will be worth it in the end.

In Knitting News:

Sales have finally started to pick up! In fact yesterday I sold not one but two doggie sweaters to the same woman. It's my first multiple order. Yay!

I also finished a custom order and listed it. I didn't charge a deposit (which I know I should have...I know...), so I really hope he buys it and that it wasn't just another waste of my time....I should know today.

Well, now I've just listed a doggie sweater to match! Same soft yarn, same colors, and now you can match your fur baby! They are sold separately, just in case you don't want to match the dog, or in case you like the sweater and don't own a dog.

I'm in the process of making another one right now to match a different sweater in my shop.

Pipe Troubles and Tuesday's Tips

A lot of you probably don't know, but I'm a landlord. It sounds much more exciting than it really is. When my ex wanted to buy a bigger place (since my own condo was good for either one pack rat or two normal people), I didn't want to sell, so I rented it out.

Well, now the pipes are backing up into the sink from other condos that share the same pipes...The association (which I pay a bit to every month) is supposed to pay for this kind of thing, but the plumber will only charge them if they call the plumber and not me. Well, try and get them to call the plumber! I'll have to call them again at 9 my time and get them on it. We had to go over there last night and cap the pipe so that their kitchen wouldn't overflow during the night.

Friday's Favorite Finds!

Today's favorites are going to be a little different. Since I was able to snag a treasury yesterday morning (while the boyfriend was waiting impatiently for me to get ready), I decided that the items in the treasury were definitely some of my favorites.

A day of knitting...and a question?

First things first...my little doggie, "Bess" made it into a treasury as did the sweater I knit that she's wearing. As proud as I am of my work, no matter what I do she's going to outshine anything that she's wearing...Or maybe I'm just a proud mama.

In Knitting News:
Today is the last day I've given myself to finish the sweater I'm working on...starting tomorrow, I'm getting cracking on my custom orders, so whatever's not finished will just have to wait until the knitting frenzy is over. The orders are for someone's wedding, so I really want to have them mailed out with plenty of time to spare in case there are mail delays or something.

Question time:
I see a lot of different items up on etsy that say recycled or upcycled...is there a difference? I'm in the process of making a sweater from recycled yarn and I'd love to know everyone's thoughts on this.

New Things

Ok! So I finally got my new items listed! I wish I could just create things and hand them off to someone else to do the rest...Oh well, until the Keebler Elves are not so busy making cookies, I guess I'm on my own.

Anyway, The first item I listed was a Blue Headband Ear Warmer! It keeps your hair out of your face and your ears warm too!

Sometimes in the winter I don't feel like wearing a hat, but my ears will get really cold if I don't. That's why I think this is the perfect solution!

Knit in super soft country blue yarn, this cable knit headband will keep you warm and stylish during those cold winter months. It's nice an stretchy and should fit most head sizes comfortably.



Then I listed a Pink and Grey Doggie Sweater! This sweater is perfect for your little one. It's knit in a baby pink with heather grey cuffs in super soft yarn. Bess, my lovely model, is a 7lb chihuahua, which will give you some idea of the size.

Tuesday Tips

I'm going to try out a new section on my blog called Tuesday's Tips. Though I am still relatively new on etsy, I've been collecting some tips from other sellers and I thought I would share them.

Todays tip is a site called letsets.com
What it is, is a download that helps you get your items onto google base. This will help when people do searches for things and click on the shopping link. I've gotten some views from it. No sales yet, but I figure it can't hurt. I also think the more people that do this will get more people to come to etsy in general, and even if they don't buy your product, it's great for the site and they might come and buy something from you later...the more buyers, the better the chance of selling.

Start of a Wonderful Day

When I woke up this morning, I was tired and cranky...but this is normal before I insert the Coffee IV into my veins. As per usual, I went and checked my email next, and lo and behold....I had another sale! The Santa Doggie Sweater is now sold! Yay for me!

As soon as I finish my Christmas Scarf (which should be today since I'm performing at the Venetian and will be working furiously in between shows), I have an idea for a doggie party sweater. I can see it in my mind, but I don't know if it will look the same when I get it into the yarn...fingers crossed.

In other news, I have 6 shows today at the Venetian...unfortunately, I'll be playing a different role in them than my usual one because the guy who usually does it, is out of town. *Sigh*, no magic for me today...instead I'll be a giant marionette (I'm not big, but it's all relative) with a stilt walker controlling my strings. We will do this little bit five times today...

But what can you do? My mortgage company would be very upset if I refused...They have this thing about being paid on time...go figure.
