Running longer

Ok, I'm almost ready to increase my distance, though not by much.  I'm currently running 2.3 miles, and I'm ready to up it to 2.5. I'm at the point now where the 2.3 is tiring, but I'm actually making it through more easily.

My sister wants me to run a 5K with her this summer.  To most runners this is no big deal, but since I started in September only being able to do a half a mile, it's a huge deal to me.  I'm hoping that by the time I see her in August, it will be no problem.

For people like me, who don't do the whole metric conversion (yes, I had to look it up) a 5K is about 3.1 miles, so I'm really less than a mile away from this goal.  We shall see...

  2. Hey, starting with only doing a 1/2 mile, you're an inspiration to me! I hate running. Really. I'm not a runner. My son's a runner, but not me. Although, I really should try. For now, I've got to keep myself motivated with just working out. Maybe I'll add just a little running in...Can I start with 1/4 mile? LOL
With you increasing your distance like this, it gives me inspiration to attempt running! Keep up the great work. I'm sure you'll be able to do 5K this summer (thanks for looking up that conversion!), because you're almost there!!!

  5. You should feel so proud of yourself! I hate running and even running a mile for me tires me out. Just keep motivated and you will be at 3.1 miles in no time :)
